Sadly the weather has taken a bit of a turn here.  Yesterday morning was a touch cloudy but still warm enough to walk around without a jacket.  The hubs and I took a chance and headed out to Granville Island to walk around a bit and take in the sights.  To be honest I have never really figured out why it is called an island.  You drive in and drive out and there is no apparent bridge access.  If anyone knows the reasoning please fill me in!  Either way it is a lovely area with lots of arts and craft places, shops of all sorts, restaurants, bakeries, and a great public market and consequently is visited regularly by tourists and local alike.

Visiting Granville Island means quite a bit of time walking around outdoors and with the uncertain weather I wanted to stay warm but didn't really want to carry around a jacket.  I was already carrying around my purse (which is always chock-full when I am travelling) and this adorable umbrella that was a gift from my mother.  I have no idea where she found it but it is the cutest thing!  I might not even have complained if there was rain just because it meant I got to use it!  The idea of lugging around a jacket too just did not sit well.  Luckily I had brought this knit capelet with me and it seemed to fit the bill perfectly.

We'll see how the weather pans out over the next few days, but in the meantime we can still wander around the city easily enough so I am not complaining!  Only a few days left in our vacation so we must make the most of it!
