Hi everyone!  Between fatigue and life in general, time has been at a premium since the start of my pregnancy and unfortunately several things in my life have been pushed to the side as a result.  Cooking, cleaning, blogging, my nails, just to name a few!  Which is sad since this is a rare time in my life my nails are in great condition - thank you prenatal vitamins!  So when a friend approached me about Jamberry Nail Wraps, a new product she was involved with, I jumped at the chance to work on my nails and the blog at the same time:)

Jamberry nail wraps are a solid film covering that is applied to nails like a sticker.  They are pressure and heat activated and create a water tight bond that allows them to last up to 2 weeks on fingers and 6 weeks on toes!  Fun nail art that is quick to apply with no dry time or need to reapply for 2 weeks?!  Sign me up! So my friend, Jen, gave me a sample to try out for a 7 day challenge between Jamberry nail wraps and regular nail polish.  The wraps come in over 300 designs and I choose a graphic black and white houndstooth pattern; perfect for a statement nail and the challenge.

Application was relatively simple.  You heat up the wrap with a Jamberry warmer or in my case a hair dryer, apply the wrap to your nail, rub the wrap down to adhere to your nail, trim off the top and file down over the nail edge, then heat and rub down again being careful to get all the edges and make sure there are no air pockets.  I chose to paint the remainder of my nails in Kerfuffle by Butter London along with my usual Gel Lab base and top coat from Deborah Lippmann which I have found in the past to have an incredible wear time when applied well so Jamberry had a lot to live up to!

I loved the combo of the Jamberry statement nail and my more neutral pink nails and got several compliments on the manicure throughout the week.  Between 5 and 6 days I started to notice wear in my regular nail polish in the form of cracking and by day 7 there was definite cracking and chipping especially on my index and middle fingers.  My Jamberry nail was still in relatively good condition.  There was very minor tip wear but nothing really noticeable or that would make me want to remove the wrap.

Overall I really loved the experience of using the Jamberry nail wraps.  With my busy schedule the easy application was a HUGE plus and I love the multiple intricate designs available.  There is even a nail art studio that allows you to design your own wraps!  I think the trick is definitely in the application and being a novice I did get the tiniest air pocket near the tip of my nail during my initial application which I think lead to the wrap wearing before its time.  I highly suspect that if I had done a better job the wrap would have lasted well beyond the 7 day challenge.  Added bonus: the wraps are made without harsh chemicals and are non-toxic and latex free.  Something important to me in general but especially during pregnancy.
