INSPIRED BY: THE HUNT FOR THE PERFECT (MATERNITY) JEANS!

11:05 am

Hi everyone!  Through my pregnancy I have been trying to re-purpose as many non maternity clothes as I can, but one thing I did invest in early on was a pair of maternity jeans, and they are the best investment I have made so far!

Before making the purchase I decided on two specifics:
1. For anyone who hasn't bought maternity pants before, they normally have some sort of elastic panel that you pull up onto or over your belly to hold them up and allow them to adjust to your expanding waistline as you grow.  I purchased a pair of dress pants with this type of panel earlier and found the panel to be uncomfortable and itchy. So I decided to look for a pair that offered a side panel option.  This style has elastic panels built in along the sides that allow the pants to actually do up with a button and fly like normal jeans, while still being able to expand to fit an growing baby bump!
2. Several high end denim companies now offer maternity styles including Citizens of Humanity, Paige, and Seven for All Mankind to name a few, and given how often I imagined I would be wearing these jeans over the following 5 months I decided it would be worth it to splurge on a name brand option.

Every woman has experienced the pain of the search for a perfect pair of jeans at some point in their life! Conducting this search while pregnant presented a whole host of new issues!  So, I decided to visit a local maternity boutique, Yo Mama Maternity, and was sooo glad that I did!  As helpful as the hubs tried to be, skinny jeans are just skinny jeans to him and he basically couldn't tell the difference between any of the pairs I tried on.  I found the help of the sales lady at Yo Mama to be a god send!  She brought me great options that were available in my size and brands that she knew would work with my petite frame. Being new to pregnancy I find that I am always adjusting to my new shape and as soon as I feel sort of used to it baby grows and I have a slightly newer shape to get used to.  This was especially true earlier on at that in between stage when I wasn't obviously pregnant but my clothes no longer fit.  Having someone who understood that and knew what to put me in was invaluable!

After trying on about 5 or 6 variations I settled on this pair of Mavi jeans and I have already more than made up for what I spent on them with the amount of use I have gotten out of them!  They have been worth every penny!

If you are looking for maternity clothing in the Edmonton area I highly recommend visiting Yo Mama Maternity!  I don't even know where I would have started without the help I received there.  They also offer online shopping for those that don't live in the Edmonton area!

  3. On the hunt for the perfect shoes there are many factors that come into play to determine the absolute best find for you. At times this can be a bit stressing when trying to find exactly what you want to wear for the season. If you follow a checklist when making your selection, that being to look for comfort, a nice looking fit, matching ability, and price, it will make it an easier process for you and you can have fun!
